The awards event for the winners of the "Solution Award" was held on Friday, June 10th, 2022, during the MECSPE exhibition, at the Bologna Fiere Service Center.
The Robotic System for the Monitoring and Maintenance of the San Giorgio Bridge in Genoa has won the "𝑰𝒏𝒏𝒐𝒗𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑹𝒐𝒃𝒐𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒔" award in the category of "𝒃𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒖𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝒐𝒓 𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒊𝒄𝒆 𝒓𝒐𝒃𝒐𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒔 𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒍𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏". The robotic system was designed by the Italian Institution of Technology of Genoa, in collaboration with SDA Engineering, Ubisive, and the Polytechnic University of Marche, and realized thanks to the synergy with Innse-Berardi, Ingersoll Machine Tools and Camozzi Advanced Manufacturing, companies of the Camozzi Group.
Luca Molinari, Innse-Berardi Chief Operation Officer, and Ferdinando Cannella, IIT Coordinator of Industrial Robotics Facility, have collected the prize at MECSPE.
THE ROBOTIC SYSTEM:
The robotic system is based on the installation of 4 robots on the sides of the bridge: 2 of them will be in charge of inspecting the lower surface of the deck and processing the data in order to find any anomalies (Robot-Inspection) and the other 2 will be cleaning the wind barriers and solar panels (Robot-Wash).
This Robotic Inspection system is the first automatic system in the world and provides a replicable model at the global level designed to enhance the safety of this type of infrastructure and of any civil works that may require automatic monitoring.
"ROBOTIC INNOVATION 2022" AWARD:
The "Robotics Innovation 2022" Award is organized by Automatione Integrata magazine and is dedicated to companies, startups, universities, research centers, laboratory spinoffs, owners of an innovative application as technology providers, system integrators and end users.
In addition to the Main Prize, two special prizes are awarded in the HORIZONS and FOOD sections.
Applications were evaluated by the Technical Scientific Committee (STC) appointed by Automazione Integrata magazine.
